Unlike his father’s simple and practical design style, Lee Jun-He emphasizes the harmony of proportions in overall spatial and design aesthetics, as well as the continuity of spatial design. By integrating colors, shapes, spaces, and even thought processes, he creates spaces that resemble paintings with a narrative quality. Under this philosophy, he has developed a balance of aesthetics and functionality, achieving ultimate artistry. For example, in their office, a white base complements warm wood textures, incorporating imagery of honeycombs, caves, and tree trunks. The office resembles nutrient-rich soil, where "aerial roots" symbolically breathe deeply, showcasing dynamic vitality and beauty. Large glass windows blur the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, allowing employees to feel as if they can step outside to bask in sunlight and breeze. The use of recycled materials underscores their commitment to sustainability, adding a sense of renewal and joy.
Their dedication to quality and innovative thinking earned ChiaoChiang Design the Gold Award in the Interior Design category at the 2020 American MUSE Design Awards and the Silver Award at the 2021 Italian A'Design Awards. Their approach extends outdoor imagery into interiors, creating an environment where employees are sheltered like trees protecting their surroundings.
Discussing what sets them apart from other interior design firms, the ChiaoChiang team explained that, unlike others who subcontract renovation work after completing the design phase, they have long-standing partnerships with skilled craftsmen passed down from their father’s generation. This enduring collaboration has fostered a team with strong synergy. They also ensure material selection meets high standards, recommending renowned brands with green certifications or flame-resistant materials to clients. This reduces maintenance issues and enhances spatial safety.
The team’s high standards and creative vision also earned them recognition at the 2021 Italian A'Design Awards, where they received an honorable mention for a project that used the concept of tree rings to make the living room a space that reflects the essence of each family member.
